Facepalm Representing the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard Trial

Johnny Depp Trial and a Bookish Quote

Some things matter more than winning.” – This is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

This week, the Johnny Depp Trial is underway, and it brings to mind the bookish quote, “Some things matter more than winning.” Let’s take a look at some of what we have learned over the course of the trial.

Johnny Depp has revealed that he is a reader.  He testified that Amber confronted him when he was reading a book.  While his divorce lawyer was testifying, Johnny Depp was reading a book.  So that makes me wonder if Johnny Depp is on GoodReads…….

This trial is a complete circus.  Johnny Depp has a history of substance abuse, and the relationship is reminiscent of The Maury Show or Jerry Springer.  The witness yesterday was vaping and driving while testifying.  His best quote is, “I don’t even remember what I had for breakfast!”

At one point, Amber Heard’s lawyer even objected to his own question!

A very intelligent, articulate psychologist was grilled by Amber Heard’s lawyer over a muffin.

However, there is one thing in the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial that I absolutely found distasteful.  Even if every single one of Amber’s claims are true, her lawyers were trying to bring Johnny Depp’s children into this circus.  The lawyer asked about an incident on an island, inquiring if Amber left with Lily-Rose in a helicopter and Jack was undecided.  If I was Amber, I would tell my lawyers to keep the children out of it, that if they brought them in, I would terminate their services.

Because you see, some things matter more than winning.  Every week, GoodReads ranks its users.  Usually, I am in the top 5-6 in the world (You can check out the GoodReads rankings here).  But you know what?  I actually vote for most of the people who ranked above me.  Why?  Because if I win, I want to feel good about doing it.  I want to win with dignity.

There is no dignity in this trial.    Amber Heard should refuse to tear Johnny Depp’s family apart.  These are children who did not choose to be public figures and are entitled to their privacy. There are no winners in this trial.  Society deserves better.

Let’s not forget the important things: dignity, respect, honor, and honesty.  Not sure how much of those we are going to see in this Johnny Depp/Amber Heard trial.
